Installation
Floor installation requires skill, experience, thought and planning. It may seem simple, but many times it is the most complicated part of renovation. Height differences, humidity conditions, foundation work, and leveling issues are only some of the problems which a floor installer may encounter.

A good floor installer must be a true professional. We discovered that every job, brings with it new problems which were never before encountered. At Jerry Flooring, Inc. we are proud to say that there has never been a problem, which we did not find a solution for.

Most hard wood floors are installed using a side nail technique. The nails are powered into the wood's underneath sub floor. Hard wood may be glued, but it is usually not recommended.

Engineered floors, and vinyl floors are installed using adhesives. Laminated floors are usually installed using a floating floor installation method. This means that the individual strips are connected to each other, but are not connected to the sub flooring beneath them.

Ceramic, stone, porcelain, and marble are usually set on top of a cement surface. Most installers use a material called "thin set" in order to lay the tile. A thin layer of the "thin set" is created before the tile is set.

Another way to install is to use adhesives, and to glue the tile. This method is not as efficient as setting the tile on top of the thin set, especially with the heavier and thicker types of tile, the glue technique is not recommended.

Carpets are installed on top of a pad. The carpet is stretched, and then placed on small tacks or nails which are along the sides of the room. Along the walls, wood strips with small nails facing up, are installed. These small nails are hold the carpet in place. The stretching of the carpet is the most important part in order to achieve a good installation.
