Cleaning
Cleaning floors is a very simple procedure that must
be done right. Each type of floor requires a different
cleaning technique. There are some treatments, which
can be done annually and will prevent dirt from accumulating
on the floor.
Taking care of a floor on a regular basis will prevent
extensive cleaning and maintenance procedures.
It is recommended to polish a floor
every year or two. It is also recommended to clean
them regularly using Murphy's Oil or a similar product,
without the excessive use of water, since exposing
wood floors to water may damage them.
Vacuuming the floor every once in a while is another
possibility, but has to be done with caution in order
to prevent the floor from scratching.
Ceramic tile can be cleaned with water
and cleaning detergents. There is no risk involved
in having any kind of tile, marble or stone exposed
to water. Accumulation of dirt is a possibility causing
the tiles to sometimes change color.
This can be prevented using muriadic acid cleaning.
This is a very strong chemical that be handled with
caution. Marble tile must be polished every few years
in order to remove the top layer, and to smooth out
the scuff marks.
Vinyl floors can be cleaned with water
regularly, and can be polished with a buffer and special
detergents. Every floor can be cleaned and should
be maintained regularly.
Keeping the floor in a good and clean condition preserves
the floor material and lets the floors last for years
to come.
